There are few lovers of cigars who do not know about the famous AVO Cigars range. These cigars are the dream child of Beirut born Avo Uvezian. He was born into a family that loved music and Avo himself wanted to pursue a career in music and loved to play the piano. Born in 1926, Avo went to the United States in 1947 where he studied more about classical music. It was during his stay in the United States that Avo was horrified to see cigars being priced at 20 dollars per piece and decided on the spot that he should do something about it. This is the beginning of his cigar manufacturing career. To pursue this career, the traveled to the Dominical Republic where he spent 2 years looking for a suitable factory. It was during this period that he also met Hendrik Kelner, another manufacturer of cigars. Avo was advised by his friend Michael Roux, that he should spare no pains to ensure that the cigars manufactured by Avo were of the best quality and standards. He was also suggested that the cigars should be provided with the best packing. By the end of his first year of manufacturing cigars, Avo had managed to sell more than 120,000 cigars.
