Seasoned cigar smokers rejoice! A surprise release from Macanudo. In a dramatic departure from Macanudo's blending over the last 40 years they have released a smoke with some kick. The Macanudo 1968 blend is a medium-full bodied wonder. Some compare the 1968 to the Partagas Black, no surprise as both blends were created by those under the tutelage of Ramon Cifuentes. The Macanudo 1968 has quite a bit in common with the Partagas Decadas in that the filler is from the Nicaraguan island Ometepe as well as from the Dominican. There is also Nicaraguan filler from Esteli present. The binder is a Connecticut Habano which is rare. To finish off the cigar is a Honduran San Augustin wrapper. The Macanudo 1968 has a complex and consistent flavor, with cocoa, pepper, and caramel present throughout. The Macanudo 1968 Toro scored a 90 from Cigar Insider. This blend comes in four shapes, the Churchill, Gigante, Robusto and Toro.
