La Perla Habana cigars were founded by Doug Wood in 1996. He started the buzz by depending on the power of word of mouth. Hoping that his cigars were quality enough to get word around, Doug set off to personally distribute his cigars to various cigar smokers around the city. The idea being that they would try one of his cigars, realize how good they were and then begin purchasing them in the future.

The method apparently worked well for Wood; La Perla Habana cigars are now manufactured in Honduras at the Toraño factory and are available in Natural or Maduro wrappers. They feature 100% premium blend of Dominican, Honduran & Nicaraguan tobaccos with a medium bodied smoke.
